The service from the seller was good and the quality of the used item was excellent. The only problem was the capatibilty of this type camcorder with the Mac Computer. I am waiting for the latest version of Final Cut Pro and supposedly with this software my camcorder will talk to my MacPro computer. I guess I have to wait and see.

I chose this camcorder because I don’t do any video editing, and just wanted a high quality easy to use camcorder. The touch screen is great, doesn’t smudge up much at all. I can’t imagine why this is a problem for anyone unless you play with your own fecal matter and don’t wash your hands. The camcorder stays charged for a long time. The picture quality is incredible. The night mode is amazing. The only thing to know. If you do the HD recording, you can only play in this camcorder, or a Sony brand blue ray disk player. Enjoy.

Not much to say here other than it’s awesome! Until 1080p camcorders come out, this is the one to buy for ease of use and portability. Shipping was fast. I am completely satisfied with this product! Thanks Amazon & Sony for having/making an awesome camcorder!

After 2 years with the HDR-ux7 (paid a premium price when we bought it in 2007), I noticed this Sony was on sale at AMZN for $600.
Good value. The HD is amazing, the Steadicam really works, even the sound is great.
Drawback #1: Delays with the discs. To avoid a 20-second “formatting” delay before shooting, you must use Sony’s (expensive) disks. The disks hold only 12-13 minutes of full HD+5.1 surround sound video. After the disks are full, you must “finalize” the disk — another delay. Delays are not good if you’re recording kids’ sports or spontaneous action.
Drawback #2: The UX7 has a flash Pro Duo slot; but the UX7 CANNOT RECORD VIDEO to flash memory – its flash is only for photos.
That is THE downside to buying this camcorder, and oh-so-typically Sony. Beautiful hardware, but the catch: condemned to buying Sony discs at $4 – $6 for each 12 minutes of HD video you record.
The HDR-CX12 out now is essentially the same as the UX7, but allows you to record to flash memory. For a hundred or so more, I think you must avoid the UX7 and go with the CX12!!!

I love this camera – video quality stunning. I’m a non-techie so let me toss a question out to the crowd – the 6.1MP still photos this camera takes are average at best. My 6.1MP Nikon D50 takes much better photos. Specifically I’m talking about grain and what I would call pixelation. I’ve double checked the settings on the HDR-UX7 and have them all set to max resolution. What am I missing? Other than that tiny issue this camera is great!
